Oil is lost one of two ways, leaking or burning. Leaking could be external or internal to the cooling system. If the coolant does not have oil in it, or no external leaks, the oil is being burnt. Smoke or not there are only 2 ways to lose oil. What do your plugs look? Are they black and carboned or a nice chocolate brown? After working the engine, should be the brown. Check compression and maybe a cylinder leakage test. These should nail down the problem. Doc.
