pet cock problem! Know how to get the threads out?

I was taking pet cock out of engine block and the threads broke off. I used 2 screw extractors to get out the screw then the extractors broke off. Can they hurt the engine? Its out of my league to get into the engine. Does anyone know how to get the threads out or is it better to tap it?
