Back in the 1950's we had several old style 800 6cyl M.M. engines pulling irrigation wells. they were a slow turning engine: max 1350 RPM. When I moved to AZ. in the mid 1960's, the corporation I leased land from bought 30 new style 800 MM engines and put them on deep irrigation wells. These engines turned max 1800 rpm. Most were still running when I retired from farming in 1986.
