Look at the cutting edge and see if the weld bead broke out of the base metal leaving what looks like a gouge (no bead left on the piece). If so it should have been preheated then welded with 70-8018. If the failure is through the bead then it was welded with insufficiently strong rod probably 60xx. Try with 8018.
