I was mowing today trying to get caught up. I thought I smelled something different. Riding this tractor day after day, I get to know the smells, and sounds it makes. Then I herd the squeel of the alt. belt slipping over the pulley. The smell was from the last of the grease being burned out of the bearing. The alt bearing was locked up tight. I had only 1/2 hr to go. I loosened the belt so it just slipped over the pulley, but kept the coolant circulating. It worked good and the belt didn't get too hot. With just a few rounds to go for some reason the belt got shorter, and tightened on the pulley and I couldn't loosen it any more. It was time to go home anyway. Stan
