Be very careful here. You really need a shop manual. Some oil pumps are NOT self-priming and must be stuffed with Vasoline before you attempt to start the engine. Others can be pre-lubed with the old freon can trick or a pre-luber sold in most auto parts stores. Still others can be pre-lubed with a drill driving the bottom shaft of an old distributor or the tool made for this purpose engaged into the oil pump shaft.

The other important item is to make sure the timing is rough set and the carburetor is a little rich to make sure the engine fires right away. Otherwise, the pre-lubed oil pressure goes away and you are right back where you started.
