like others have said, if you choose the grass for your area and conditions, not much problem. My home place in southern virginia (shaded by oaks,maples and other trees) has had bluegrass since i can remember. its beautiful fine stuff. i tried and tried it 24 miles away at my other house and it just would not live. too warm, too sunny. for pasture and played on lawns kent. 31 fescue is the native grass around here. in your area, it will probably be something else. bug your local agg. rep. with all the farmers going broke they need work.
