How old is the car? The computer in the dash on our 95 Town Car messed up and wouldn't kick in the AC compressor. I wired it in on a toggle switch until I got another computer from a junkyard. There is also a series of buttons on the dash controls that you can hold and reset/scan the computer but I don't know if the Mustang is the same as the Lincoln.
