Rob, The guide in which the lever fits with the three positions (Off/Hydraulics only/PTO and hydraulics) is adjustable on elongated holes. Try moving this to sort your problem. Also check that you do not have a loose lever where it connects to the shaft going into the housing. I find that,on my Nuffield, if you force the PTO into gear then the lever moves on the shaft and gives the problem you have. regards Brian
