The other day I was working with the loader (it's an industrial Ford loader mounted on a Ford 2910 tractor). I was applying some downward pressure to push in T-posts, when I heard a click or a crack of some kind and I lost all pressure on the loader. I have an older-style two-lever valve (one for the loader arms and one for the bucket tilt). I tried to raise the loader and/or the bucket but all I got was some type of a rumble or rattle coming from the front of the tractor. It's only there when the loader valve is engaged. As soon as I let go of the handle, the rumble stops.
Just to make it clear, this is a self-contained loader that runs off of a front PTO pump. One of the loader arms contains the reservoir for the hydraulic fluid so the tractor hydraulics are not involved. The front PTO runs OK.
I took off the loader arm hoses and applied pressure to the loader valve (like I was going to raise the loader). I got a stream of fluid out of the supply line but it did not look too strong. I checked the hydraulic fluid level and there seems to be plenty in the reservoir.
Any thoughts as to what could be wrong? Pump, loader valve, etc.? Thanks in advance for your help.
