T-bone; The welder is bad but they will not go out on a limb and give me a definate NO.. Bring the cables in from out front and not close to you. Big thing is do not lean over a running alternator cause of the magnets. I think, THINK, that they do not harm the unit, just stops it from working right then if it is needed or doing something. If you need one get it as soon as you can. They are the best comfort blanket ever made. I go to sleep at night and let the machine do the worrying. KennyP
