Re: Corvettes have Mobil 1, I am sure the production tolerances are adjusted to compensate for the oil selection. I know Chevy says the piston slap on my '98 350 with 16,000 mi is normal and asethetic, and not bad enough to fix. Amsoil recommends (or used to anyway) 15-20,000 mi breakin with mineral oil before running synthetic. You want the rings to seat. My brother drives 60000mi/year and has 180000 on his toyota. Oil change every 25000 mi. Quality synthetics do not invalidate warranty's. Extended drain intervals may. Engine sludge will. Stay away from oil additives, and particular any with teflon (reg tdmk of DuPont). Amsoil offers an oil analysis program, high efficiency air and oil filters.
