i am trying something different this year. i have a driveway monitor mounted on the leading edge of my garden from which the deer typically approach. this sends a signal to a receiver which can be located about 100 ft. away. i plugged a battery charger to which is connected to a 12v car alarm. once detected, the receiver energizes the battery charger which sounds the alarm. it is programmed to sound for 30 seconds. the receiver and charger is mounted in a 5 gal. plastic bucket turned upside down for protection from the elements and the alarm is attached to the side of the bucket. deer typically travel up a small ravine in the woods, past my pond and then to the garden, hopefully, the monitor, which has a wide beam, is placed in the direction of travel. the garden and alarm is located about 500 ft, from the nearest neighbor.
