yes it needs to be reprimed, the oil pressure relief valve is locatedbehind the fan nest to the water pump, (go to the archives in the ford 8n 2n 9n section)youll find it i primed mine with 90 wt, also check how your plunger goes in, and watch that little spring, i bet the owner wasnt lieing, prime her up and give us a follow up
