I remember being in Texas County, Mo one time, back in the late 50's or early 60's, and we felt a "shudder" that lasted several seconds. All it did though, was rattle dishes and windows.
We were used to sonic booms from jets going over high in the sky, and knew this was different.
It was no biggy but it still creeped us out. LOL
Later, we heard on the local news that it was from the Black "something" (Black Bayou, Black River ??) fault line, and not the New Madrid one.
