i live about Fifty miles north of Dallas, Texas. We show at two events, the mainone being the Collin County Old settlers Picnic in September at the Collin County Farm Museum. Some of the Clubs here, notably the North Texas Antique Tractor Club, actively discourage steam engines participating in their shows, even though we keep everything under state inspection.
By the way, I'm 33, hold a fireman and engineers (locomotive) liscence and i too have had to do some creative financing to support may habit.
