I am not knocking JD but, I do not care for the hand clutch at all on the pre-60' models. The operators hands are already tied up steering,shifting, hydraulic levers,etc. All your feet really do is use the brakes. Other than that I like em'. I agree about Case's "chicken roost" steering arm was rediculous. Case brakes have always been very un-reliable as well.
Most IH 560's that I have been around had from the factory a "tele-depth" hydraulic valve that was IH's version of draft-control. If I remember right there were three valves and the left side was the "Tele-Depth" valve. It did more harm that good and those valves were switched to regular valves like the right and middle ones.
And Ford N series are way too light for any serious work. I believe that Ford should have had a narrow-front N to compete with everybody else. A buddy of mine has a Ford 4000 selecto-speed that just locked up, wont move on it's own. It did something simalar to that last fall. Selecto-speed was a bad idea. Just my 2 cents.
