I think you have to have a fair amount of seniority/rank to get that. Last I heard troopers just out of the academy were getting 40 to 50 K depending where you are placed. New York City, Hudson district, Albany area gets more pay than the other parts of the state. Had a former trooper tell me if you moved out of one of the premium areas to another the payscale was adjusted accordingly. I'll have to see if he was pulling my leg or not on that. No money in being a local cop other than being the top dog but still better than working Wal Mart, risks aside.
