I'm not sure how I can work tractor into the topic other than I own one and sometimes trailer it.
My neighbor asked me to help wire a flat 4 connector trailer plug into his '97 Dodge Caravan so that he could properly pull a U-haul trailer.
We followed the connector directions carefully and it does not work as it should. It gives only tail lights and brake lights but no turn signals. --- Besides the ground connector, as per directions it is to be hooked to the tail light circuit and the left brake light and right brake light wires. That is precisely what we did. --- On the van there is a separate wire going to each light for the turn indicator. If I tie into those instead of the brake wires will I still have brake lights or will I gain turn lights and lose the brake lights? ---- Should be simple but I'm in a little too deep and just can't get it figured out.
Perhaps I should add that I did not hook the trailer up for testing, only used the through the connector grounding.
