I find I have to take the mag off the tractor to do the oiling and if your tractor hasn't run for a while you may want to do that before you hook all the wires. Once its off pull off the cap and look where the metal tab is so if you turn the mag by hand you will know where it was when you take it off. Inside the cap there are 4 carbon rods that run against the rotor. The carbon will smear over time and needs to be cleaned off. As part of my mag maintenance I take a pencil eraser and remove the carbon.
