Here we go with our monthly rusted fuel tank question. :) Drain and remove tank. Plug drain hole. Place small gravel (about 1 gallon or so) and a couple of gallons of water into the tank. Shake tank end to end, side to side, up and down, back and forth (you get the idea) while rotating it so a different area is down every few minutes. This works well if you suspend the tank from a beam in your shop or a tree limb. Remove gravel and water from tank and flush well with clean water to remove all traces of contaminants. Allow tank to dry a day or two. (forced, warm air shortens drying time to a few hours.) Coat inside of tank with a tank liner as per instructions on can. I use Red Coat from the local used tractor dealer. A quart costs about $30 or so but will do several tanks. Allow to dry, install tank, enjoy.

The need for fabricating becomes obvious when you go to buy any of these
