Could be- is it a front mounted, or side mounted coil? If it is front mounted, you can get a new one for less than 30bucks. If it is side mounted, you can get one for less than 20, or take one off of something else that you know is good and try it again. Is there an in-line resistor? If so, bypass it and see if that works. Try closing up your plug gap. You might have a bad condenser as well.
