Use a gravity feed gun if possible. It will take considerabley less air to paint with a GF gun rather than a syphon fed gun because the paint is already at the tip. I was in Sears yesterday and they have a Craftsman gravity fed gun made by DeVilbis. Light, handy, affordable at the $139. I have the same thing in DeVilbis that cost me $175 and I use it to spray almost all my paints. Oh BTW..the sales person will only be able to read you the instructions and specification sheets. Don't ask any questions of a technical nature or they will give you a look you won't soon forget. Oh they will ask you what the cfm and the horse power of the compressor and such and try to impress you with their ability to memorize the spec sheet, but ask them to tell you about the cars they have painted with that gun, what to expect out of the spray pattern, and what reduction range works best with the tip provided and THEN see what your answer will be. You can buy different fluid tips and air nozzles at any body shop supply store that carries DeVilbis products.
