Anything that increases demand for canola is good for me (Manitoba farmer). However, in the whole scheme of things, if canola oil works, so would a lot of inferior (cheaper) oilseeds. BTW, I don't think canola will grow too well on your 30 million CRP acres as it does thrive on cool weather in flowering season, which is ideally about 3 weeks in July. Since 1974, the fewest acres of canola I have grown in any one year is 100, the most is 500. The lowest price I have received for canola in that time is $2.97 CDN per 50 lb. bushel. The highest is $14.70 CDN. Some of the early years the meal value was greater than the oil value.
