I have rented from Enterprise in the past, both cars and trucks. I used to deliver their mail and if they had a vehicle that would not be rented for the weekend they would cut me a tremendous deal. Cheaper than I could have owned a vehicle for. Regardless of price they just wanted to show it was rented.
I came across an Ebay item in Iowa so inquired about renting a pickup just last year. All they had were short bed trucks, no long ones. And FYI you can never pull a trailer with one.
Just last week I read about new rental tactics to drive up the price for many rental agencies. Read your contract very closely before agreeing to it.
One tactic was not properly noting any damage when you pick the vehicle up, but charging you for it when returned.
CNN among others carried similar reports recently. I did read that recent rates have gone up considerable---and understandably to a point.
