My Dad passed away this past Wednesday. He was an IH nut and a great man. He had been looking for an F-30 for years and finally got one three months ago and was in the process of getting it restored. The reason for me writing this is that the greatest tributes at the funeral home for my father came from his fellow Land of Legend Antique Tractor Club members. Just doggone good down-to-earth honest folks. After the funeral and when the family was all gathered at the farm, a lone pickup came up the drive very slowly. My brother recognized the truck and said it was a tractor club member. He had a tarp stretched over the truck's bed. This guy stopped and got out of his truck, pulled the tarp back and carried his gift to my Father and placed it on the picnic table. It was an Ertl replica Farmall M pedal tractor, and he had written on it "in Memory of Robert M. Evans". I also noticed some other writing on it. It had been autographed by Mr. Ertl. I'll tell you, I thought I was done cried out over the past three days, but I cried again big time. I had never met this guy, but he told me that he took an instant liking to my Dad when he met him. His name is Bill Duff. He and I are gonna spend a lot of time together from here on. What a great act of friendship. Tractor people are special.
