Gas Tank Cleaning

I have a 1937 ac model rc with what was a full tank of gas in 1953 when the previous owner went to the big farm in the sky. Is there any chemical that will disolve the shellac ? I was going to use carb, cleaner but i can only find it in spray cans.If that,s the only stuff that will work where do i get a loan for a dozen cases?
