I have augered: a couple of million bushels of various grains,fertilizer, coal and water successfully. Unsuccessful attempts (by me) have been sand and chop (ground up grain). The issue with sawdust will be whether or not you can get it to feed into the auger. The smaller the auger flighting and unfortunately the presence of a guard the more the problem. A slow moving auger flighting will feed better. Larger will fed better. Yes, augers can be dangerous, but they don't need to be.
