Probably work, you should measure the web or post a photo of them here, maybe someone has an AISC hand book, help you ID them, "W" shape for example, + web dimension, will ID em, then you might be able to check some tables or related info to get an idea on that span.
Steel nomenclature; "W" = shape, "4" = web height " x 20"= would be 20 lbs per foot, so W4 x20 would be a W shape, with a 4" web, weighing 20 lbs. per foot, once ID'd should help if you can find information on steel design, even a small job, good to know, probably work from what you describe.
