Briggs apposed twin? Some carbs have an electric solenoid or fuel shut off on the bottom of the float bowl. This is an anti backfire feature. Some fuel pumps are hard to locate but are vacuum operated and will have three or four hosed attached. Give us more info and some one will be able to help.
