I do use a lead additive in my old gas tractor but I know that some people do not believe in it. It says on the label how much to use. These old engines do not have hardened valves and are designed for leaded gas. I would not use kerosene as it does not all burn and tends to get in the oil and thin it. If you have a manual for your tractor you can read about using kerosene, back then oil was cheap and it was not a problem to keep changing it.
