Hi, I haven't read the other reply's but it sounds like an air vent for when the fluid gets hot the air or fluid will come out. I have pulled them off on lawnmowers and added fluid but, if he pulls it off, I would use a dip stick to stick down in there first and take it back out to see how much is in there and smell it to see what kind of fluid it is. About the hitch, he needs 2 stabilizer bars that connect to where he connects, plows, etc. and then it goes to the tractor where the draw bars are connected. I know what you are taling about, because I did the same with an old international and they wil catch the wheels and throw them up and mess up the lift if not careful. Hope this helps.
