I agree that the stats vary depending on which source you read. But all point to the fact that ROPS save lives. As far as relying on jumping off a rolling tractor, that's a chance I don't want to take. Jumping off means jumping on the down hill side cause it's not likely you can jump off the uphill side.
Deaths by rollovers is the leading cause of farm death, estimated at 150+ per year. We are losing too many farmers as it is. We need to keep all we can.
