Thurlow, when I was a kid, there was a big old guy who would stop for a soda in the gas station where I worked. I knew him as "Birdseed". He and I were sitting on a bench talking one hot afternoon when a guy came in the door and said, "Hi Birdseed." Birdseed hollered, "Don't you call me Birdseed", grabbed up a tire iron and chased the guy all the way to his truck. He came back in mumbling and sat down on the bench. I sat there and pondered that for awhile, and finally said, "What would you like to be called". He said, "You can call me Birdseed." So I did, til the day he died. I guess he didn't like that guy???
