If I post a maximum bit of say $75.00 today and the auction doesn't end until Friday. You can have them bid whatever you want. As long as your maximum is not more than mine you will not win. If the maximums are the same whoever bid that amount first gets it. So you have to look at what you are willing to spend on an item and just go for it.
