Good suggestions posted here by all. One other thing you might try. Next time it dies check the condenser inside the distributor. If it is hot, it is breaking down and needs to be replaced. Points can also get hot and not make contact. If points appear black and burnt looking try replacing them. Ignition break downs usualy take about 5-15 minutes to recover from. If tractor starts easily long before then, then most likely the problem is elsewhere, but it never hurts to check these things anyway.
