Converted to 121 volts means it most likely has an alternator on it and that will make it - ground. If you hook up an alternator type charging system tractor wrong you will let thew smoke out the moment you hook it up. As for the coil it has only 1 wire going to it so that does not matter as long as it is the hot wire
