As per my reloading manual which I load by. 240gr Jacketed HC bullet loaded with 17.3 grains of 2400 powder travels at 878 fps and that is the bullet/powder combo I use in my 44mag and it knocks deer down with a single shot. Took a 10 pointer down with one last year one shot one kill but he did not know he was dead till the guy I was with shot him with his 280 and pushed the 10 point over. Oh by the way my 44mag bullet went in one side and other the other his 280 hit the neck bone and stopped there but did push it over. Ya we found the 280 bullet and it fit right in the 44 brass
