Maybe the boss spent it. I had a similar situation about 15 years ago. My wife and I were in a store parking lot in a huge metropolis and found a signed paycheck with a lady's name on it. Luckily she didn't have an unlisted phone number, as we looked her up in the phone book and gave her a call. We met her in a public place and she thanks us many times over. I made sure to look at her ID to make sure it was her and not somebody else. I'm not sure why the check was endorsed. I always do that right before I cash it.
