I have a John Deere 870 with the 6' mowing deck underneath. The problem is, the pto that I engage for it when cutting will jump out of gear every couple of minutes.(mainly if I hit high grass) I used a bungie cord to keep the "knob" up and it stays in gear! I have tried adjusting it and does not help. I was told some kind of spring is bad inside the gear box? The pto for the bush hog works fine. Also the tractor only has 340 hrs. on it.
