This is my pet gripe. I RV a lot and some dummy always starts his diesel and lets it idle for 1/2 hr. or more. Irritating at 06:00. GM,Ford,Dodge all printed in the owners manuals not to leave the engine idling for more than 10 min. All the posts here are correct, prolonged idling is harder on the engine than heavy use. My Cummins-Dodge is a terrific truck and the only idling I allow is for turbo cooldown, and 10 min, will accomplish that easily.
