Only have two Mennonite and one Amish in our township at this point. Only one of the three mentioned has milked here more than a few years. The last couple of regular dairymen went out of milking a few years ago but still are holding their farms at this point. As I posted several days back the future is bleak for young upcoming farmers that do not have large non-farm financial resources to tap around here. Land prices rising past values that the farm can payback on its own is a double-edged sword. It provides a good retirement for older farmers but makes it darn near impossible for young people to get started. Don't hear of guys renting for several years to eventually own like you did in the 1980's and 1990's. Despite all the professional opinions I don't like where this is heading.
