Dave, dont give up, maybe call a vet if you think its that bad,and wanna keep him. I have worked on a thoughbred breeding farm for the last 20 years. I have seen some foals take a few hours to stand. Most fees are paid when foal stands and nurses. We have had to get the foal up and put its face near the udder, use our fingers to get it to suckle. Also check its breathing, heart rate and temp.
