I found a tombstone in our garden. Good shape, lying on its side about plow depth. Said Harvey W. Johnson, died 1894. Told my wife I would change my name to Harvey Johnson to save her some money. . . I know a guy who was brush hogging some high weeds, snagged his coon hound's tie chain, snatched him out of the dog house, under the mower and killed him. I was mowing hay, looked back and spotted a terrapin on the platform in front of the rollers. He was jiggling all over the place. I hit the PTO clutch, but those rollers don't stop instantly. He was all closed up in his shell, and looked like he was going to be all right when he decided to make a run for it. I guess he got a leg in the rollers, cause the next thing I saw was a naked terrapin flying out the back of the conditioner. The empty shell was still in front of the rollers. Ouch! Got one of the barn cats in the conditioner once to. Squeezed the juice out of him.
