My money is on a bad switch.
Those switches have marginal current carrying capacity for the 5 lights. Have seen more than one with a corroded battery terminal. Dust, dirt, and moisture accumulates between the bat terminal and the switch housing, a small leakage current flows, corrosion sets in, and the connection goes bad. Can also drain the battery over an extended period.
