A coulter is a disc cutter wheel useful, if not necessary, when plowing sod.
A jointer is a small moldboard shaped cutter mounted against the coulter intended to turn over a small slice of soil from the top of the main soil slice.
It is not uncommon for jointers and/or coulters to be missing from used Ferguson, Dearborn and Ford plows.
Good used coulters and jointers are a bit hard to find. Some folks simply purchase another plow with these parts for use on their existing plow.
