2000 Ford Diesel vs 841 Ford Diesel

Cost comparison and best buy for the money when the price for the 1957 model 841 Ford diesel,with 5 pieces of equipment $5900 vs the 1971 model 2000 Ford diesel with 4 pieces of equipment for $4700. Trying to get the best tractor for my dollar and can use your comments or suggestions. 1957 model, 841 runs good, 1971 model 2000 hard to crank and smokes with a miss in the engine-possibly weak cylinder or injectors, needs both rear tires, one front tire. I know the 2000 is a much better tractor other than the engine possible problem. Would it be worth the extra investment if it turns out to be an overhaul? Thanks
