Well since this is down a little I'll explain how I did it. Which ever tractor would start I would use to tow the other out into the filed. Put it in 1st gear and tie the steering wheel straight. Jump off and run back to the other tractor. Jump on slip it in 1st gear and let the clutch out and when it started take it out of gear then run up to the pulling tractor and jump on stop it back up and unhook the chain. did that many times over a few years till we got the Ford 841 so it took up the slack and from then on did 99% of the work on the place. That said I would never say it was a good thing or a smart thing to do and could in fact get a person dead if they messed up
