Octane rating probably won't matter much in most tractors. It's essentially an anti-knock value that becomes most important in high compression engines. Lead substitutes will be helpful under sustained heavy loads. Lots of factors, such as carbon buildup, spark plug type, and altitude can affect the way your engine responds to different fuels.
