Sounds handy. I assume you're using only the 2 1/2" shot shell.
How close to the critter do you have to be? With such a short barrel, don't the shot scatter pretty quick?
As far as legal, Taurus advertises "The Judge" as shooting either .45 long colt or .410. So I would think it would be legal with the derringer.
